The wide-gap option: a 28° eye and extra room between point and shank, in 1/0 through 5/0. Build on it when the jig carries a bulky trailer or a thick soft-plastic body and you want the gap to stay open after the bait is on.

Avoid when:
Avoid it when a compact bend matters more than clearance — a small-profile finesse head keeps its proportions better on a round bend. And as with every jig hook here, the 28° eye has to match the mold it goes into. For those builds the 60° round bend keeps truer proportions.

In heads built to carry creature baits, chunks, and full-bodied trailers, where clearance decides whether the fish meets the point.
