Best use:
Tie it on once and change baits in seconds. Use it on crankbaits, jerkbaits, spoons and topwaters, where fast lure changes and a free-swinging connection both pay off.

Avoid when:
Skip the snap on jigs, Texas rigs and other bottom baits you want tied direct — it adds hardware where there should be none. A snap is not a swivel and will not take out line twist; for spinning baits, pair it with a ball bearing swivel. Past 55 lb test, step up to heavier hardware.

Overview:
The 8607 Duo Lock Snap in bright nickel. Three sizes: #0 (13 mm, about 26 lb test), #1 (15 mm, about 40 lb) and #2 (17 mm, about 55 lb). Sold in packs of 25, 50 and 100 snaps of one size.

Why it works:
The wire closes under a keeper on the other side, so it opens with a thumbnail when you want it to and stays shut under load when you don't. The rounded bottom lets the bait's line tie swing freely instead of being clamped by a knot, so crankbaits and jerkbaits run with the action they were built with. Every change is a snap, not a retie, so you keep your line and your time on the water. The bright finish throws a little flash of its own, which suits reaction baits in stained water where a touch of extra glint does no harm.

Where it works best:
Open water and search situations where you move through several baits in a day: flats, points, riprap and ledges.
