The LB-2601 is a 1/4 oz Brush jig head painted in Brown (Pro-Tec #18) and assembled in the USA exclusively for LunkrBytes by a small American craftsman. Every head is poured, painted with a chip-resistant Pro-Tec finish, fitted with a Mustad 2/0 black nickel hook and a light clear fiber weedguard, then inspected before packaging. Slide any replacement bass jig skirt straight onto the collar — or hand-tie your own skirt directly to the collar for a more secure hold than a standard banded skirt.

Color: Brown — Pro-Tec #18

Classic crawfish brown is the single most imitated forage color in bass fishing. When water temps climb into the 60s and crawfish start moving, brown triggers the deepest instinctive feeding response in largemouth and smallmouth. Built for clay banks, rocky points, and hard-bottom structure.

Why the Brush Head?

The compact, streamlined brush head profile punches through dense cover that would swallow a wider head and comes back clean. Designed specifically to penetrate, not snag.

Best For / Avoid

  • Best For: Punching into laydowns, dense brush piles, fallen timber, and root systems.
  • Avoid: Open-water casting or ledge dragging. This is a close-quarters pitching tool — fish it within 15-20 feet.
  • Depth Range: 2–15 feet
  • Prime Seasons: Pre-spawn when big largemouth lock into laydowns; fall when fish stage on wood before winter.

Technique

Tight-line pitching on 17-20 lb fluorocarbon or 30-50 lb braid with a heavy action rod. Drop into the thickest available cover and hold on — most strikes are immediate upon entry.

Weedguard: Light — 18-Strand Clear

The lightest and least visible guard in the lineup. Virtually disappears in clear water. Ideal for finesse presentations where gear visibility is a factor.

Trailer Synergy

2.5-3" finesse chunk or small paddle-tail. Keep the profile compact — a brush head in heavy cover benefits from a tight, snag-resistant trailer that threads through the same structure.

Pro Tip: Brown + Brush

Retrieve cadence: On a jig head this size, retrieve speed sets the attitude of the bait. A slow drag keeps the head on the bottom with the hook pointing up. A lift-and-drop creates a hopping crawfish that triggers aggressive fish. Match your speed to what the fish are telling you.

Skirt Trimming Tip

Trim to 2-2.25 inches for a finesse profile matching this lighter head. A full-length skirt on a 1/4 oz head slows the fall rate and can feel unnatural. Short and tight is the right call for light heads in finesse applications.
