The LB-4003 is a 3/8 oz Ball Head jig head painted in Green Pumpkin (Pro-Tec #64) and assembled in the USA exclusively for LunkrBytes by a small American craftsman. Every head is poured, painted with a chip-resistant Pro-Tec finish, fitted with a Mustad 4/0 black nickel hook and a medium green pumpkin fiber weedguard, then inspected before packaging. Slide any replacement bass jig skirt straight onto the collar — or hand-tie your own skirt directly to the collar for a more secure hold than a standard banded skirt.

Color: Green Pumpkin — Pro-Tec #64

Green pumpkin is the universal bass color — it works somewhere on every lake on every day of the year. The subtle green-brown tone mimics juvenile crawfish, soft-shelled crayfish, and small bluegill simultaneously. First choice in clear to lightly stained water when fish are being selective.

Why the Ball Head?

The round ball head has no sharp angles to create drag — it falls naturally with minimal resistance, giving your trailer the most lifelike action possible on the descent. The subtlety specialist.

Best For / Avoid

  • Best For: Clear-water points, dock corners, bluff ends, rocky structure — finesse applications targeting spotted bass.
  • Avoid: Heavy flipping, deep ledge dragging, or any situation requiring power gear. Built for finesse.
  • Depth Range: 5–25 feet
  • Prime Seasons: Spring and fall on clear lakes; summer in shaded dock areas; winter on deep bluff ends.

Technique

10-12 lb fluorocarbon on spinning gear. Target dock corners and rocky points. Allow a natural fall on semi-slack line and feel for the subtle tap of a spotted bass inhaling the bait.

Weedguard: Medium — 21-Strand Green Pumpkin

Blends the guard into natural vegetation and organic bottom material. Critical detail when fishing grass, pads, or lily stems.

Trailer Synergy

3" Keitech Swing Impact, YUM Pulse Swimbait, or a 4" finesse worm. Ball heads at 5/16 oz reward restraint — a smaller, slower trailer maximizes strikes from spotted bass in clear water.

Pro Tip: Green Pumpkin + Ball Head

Slack-line finesse: On high-pressure days, fish this head on completely slack line after the cast. The unguided, natural fall of a ball head on slack line is something pressured spotted bass rarely see — and they eat it.

Skirt Trimming Tip

Trim to the hook bend for a tight, compact finesse profile. Clear-water spotted bass respond better to a restrained skirt than a full, bushy one. One clean cut with sharp scissors across all strands.
